Routing, Placement & Retry Policies

Default Routing Behavior​

By default, Solti's Scarcity engine searches across all connected cloud providers and regions to find the lowest-cost spot or on-demand instance.

Placement Constraints​

You can constrain placement using two workload fields:

cloud — Provider Constraint​

A single provider string (aws, gcp, or azure) or a list of allowed providers:

cloud: ["aws", "gcp"]

region — Region Constraint​

A specific cloud region (e.g. us-east-1, europe-west1), a list of regions, or a macro-region identifier:

region: "americas"

Supported macro-regions:

  • 'americas'
  • 'europe'
  • 'apac'
  • 'africa'
  • 'middle-east'

Retry Policy​

maxRetries controls container retries inside the VM on failure:

maxRetries: 3

When a container fails, Solti restarts it within the same provisioned VM up to maxRetries times before the job is marked failed. This keeps transient failures (network blips, dependency hiccups) from paying for a full VM reprovision.
